Stone of Love
Is true love strong enought to save a human soul?
After leaving her abusive ex, American scholar Brielle DeVolt embarks on a career-changing opportunity, the renovation of Laird Colin MacDougall’s Chapel ruin. The attractive, broad-shouldered Laird leaves her weak-kneed, but can she trust herself to love again?
Dusted in construction dirt, the curvy beauty in his study captivates Colin. As Brielle steps to the window, her brunette tresses halo in the sunlight, and he sees her as his dream soul mate. When he learns his hereditary duty is safeguarding magic Fae stones, all he wants is to protect Brielle from the evil forces of the Fae.
Traveling to the past to assume his forefather’s identity and find a missing magic stone is challenging enough. When Brielle appears, an undeniable attraction to his ancestor ignites, causing her confused passion. Faced with fighting an evil Fae to save the realms, Colin must choose between saving the stone or saving his love.

An excerpt from Stone of Love
She moved to the closest window, the window for love. “The window enclosures are getting started today. The men will use the stones bought from the same quarry we suspect originally supplied them for the chapel. Under each window will be a new stone box three by five inches. I have yet to figure out your mother’s intention for them, but we will install them as she wanted.”
As she spoke, Brielle backed up to get a better view. She always got caught up as she discussed her work and rarely noticed where she went. The past always offered an escape for her. “The boxes weren’t in any original drawings we found, so I suspect your mother added them to the restoration plans.” She pointed to the base of the window. She didn’t realize it until she turned, but Colin stood right behind her. He captured her in his arms and smiled. The sunrise filtered through the circular window above the back of the chapel and surrounded them in light like they stood in their own little world. He trailed his fingers down her arms to her hands and wrapped them around hers. She stared down at the goose bumps that rose on her arms, then her gaze rose to meet his. “Lass, do not be nervous about last night. I enjoyed every minute. It’s the beginning of something, and I want to start it right. ’Tis why I held back. I want to do this at yer pace.” He caressed Brielle’s face. “I want to get to know ye better and see where this new beginning will take us.” Her heart melted a little, and she could almost believe him. She gazed into his eyes, as blue as the ocean on a calm day. A girl could get lost there. It seemed all too good and would end before it began. She placed her trust and heart into his care and replied, “I would enjoy that too.”
Colin lowered his mouth to hers and brushed her lips with a light, feathery kiss that made them tingle. They stood there and gazed at each other as the world disappeared. For her, the passage of time faded. No sound, only Colin. She blinked and sensed she woke from a trance. This seemed too good to be true. A good-looking, successful man seemed interested in her. Fake love brought a woman down and made her believe she remained ugly and worthless. Professor Mac’s rule popped into her head. Aye, this is the most important rule of all, dearie. Are ye settling? Are ye making concessions to make the relationship work, but at yer expense? She honestly didn’t know. This happened too fast. She didn’t know, but being here, with the magic of Scotland and Colin, she glimpsed a ray of hope. Colin spoke, “I must get to work. I am certain ye have work to do as well.” He placed his hand on her lower back. His fingers barely touched her, but she didn’t shy away. He escorted her to the doorway. He held his hand out, and Colin raised an eyebrow when she didn’t move. She placed her hand in his, and he smiled as he bent and kissed it. He whispered, “Until later.” He strode away from the chapel. The sunlight reflected off his black hair as he made his way back to the castle. Brielle stood still as she stared through the window of love, and a chill ran up her spine.
